"This is a disaster just waiting to happen," said Frank Parsimony of the Infectious Disease Center at the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta. "This is our worst nightmare," he continued. "Now the bird flu can infect millions of Americans while they play in their backyards, picnic or sleep. The killer will lurk everywhere. We'll have to close brothels, bars, night clubs, fundamentalist churches. I mean the very fabric of American life is at risk.
The "killer" bee is actually a normal honey bee that has mated with a bee from Africa. The Africans are more aggressive and less civilized than the normal bee and the mixture has proven deadly. In South America alone one or two people have been killed.
The avian flu has long been thought to be a pigment of George Bush' invagination. It was thought to have been made up by Karl Rove in response for low public opinion polls and the necessity for the President to appear to be doing something, anything. But now it has proved real.
With the pairing up with the avian flu, the combination will yield havoc and destruction not seen since the days of Charleton Heston in Soylent Green. There a shortage of food made from human remains panicked the population.
The bees have been on a steady march northward for years and are aimed directly at the gated and exclusive Orange County preserve of Coto de Caza.
"We think they are drawn to the horses but it might be the husbands. We're not really sure," Parsimony said. Coto de Caza, a community long known for its conservative and republican ties is home to some of the most expensive properties in the world. Lush, verdant lawns, stables and Lamborghinis surround the houses of this enclave. It is home to the largest number of plastic surgeons in the US.
