Ratings Falling
Fox today threatened to cancel their long running show "The Whitehouse" because of dropping ratings. Peter Chernobyl, president of 30th Century Fox, said that the network can no longer stand such ratings.
Approval Now in Low 30's
"We've put up with it for a while but their approval rating are now in the low 30's. We just can't take that anymore. Our advertisers are starting to bolt to other political reality shows like 'West Wing' and 'Commander in Chief'," he said. "This is ridiculous. We picked them up years ago from the Christian Broadcasting Network because we thought they would help us with our 'reality show programming' but they've gotten way off track," he added.
Rumsfeld 'Stroke of Genius'
Chernobyl admitted that he thought the character who played Rumsfeld was a 'genius'. "I mean that guy is unbelievable. That comment about 'you go to war with what you've got' was television at its best. That was as good as Red Foxx or Archie Bunker. And those presentations about 'shock and awe' and declaring victory before we started getting our butts wiped in Iraq was priceless. I even loved the part about bringing in that lipstick lesbian Condoleeza Rice as the head of the State Department. Boy did that really help us with that demographic," he emphasized.
Old Scripts
"But now it's just war, war, war and terror, terror, terror," he added. I mean even after Lieberman lost in Conneticut all they could up with for a plot line was a tearist attack in London. Who the hell is going to believe that crap? That was such a predictable plot line. Look at this graph.

Plot Lines Too Predictable
Chernobyl continued his rant. "Everytime their ratings drop, they trot out another war or some tearist attack. It's really getting tiresome," Chernobyl told Foxx News in an exclusive interview. "We want more characters like Cheney shooting some guy in the face or Whitehouse spokesman Ari Fleisher lying through his teeth about the Whitehouse not being involved in the Joe Wilson CIA affair. I was laughing my ass off. Oh sorry about that. But you know what I mean. Get me some more funny, ridiculous plot lines and maybe I'll renew it. But right now, the shows too repetitive and unbelievable. It's supposed to be a 'reality show' for God's sake.
'The Whitehouse' Promises to Improve
The producers of 'The Whitehouse' realize their ratings are pretty bad. They plan a few new surprises for the fall season. They admitted that the widely rumored election is one of the plot lines. They also confirmed that they are going have another war just before the election to give the hapless Republicans a chance. Condoleeza Rice is going to have another partner and get her own show 'Leeza'. But they denied that Cheney is going to be killed. "Why would we do that. He our funniest character to date. The public hates him," said writer-director Adam David Sorkin-Mamet.
'The Whitehouse' Meets 'Picket Fences'
Sorkin-Mamet also confirmed that he is teaming up with noted fiction writer and TV show genius David R Kelly to give the show more of a 'Picket Fences' feel. He also let slip that the upcoming DVD will include out takes of President Bush practicing speeches before our troops and details on how the audiences are crafted for the President's speeches. These, along with the behind the scenes look at how the show makes it's very funny banners like 'Mission Accomplished', should make the Season 4 DVD a favorite with "The 'Whitehouse' junkies.
